From left, Joe Pitruzzello, Greg Dubrule, back to the camera, and Robert Becher, guide a Great White Shark into Cabela’s in East Hartford. The shark, originally caught by Dubrule in 1983, was recently restored to its original luster by Pitruzzello, who owns North East Taxidermy Studios in Middletown. The male shark was estimated to be about 12 or 14 year-old when caught and will be on display at the outfitter throughout the summer, and possibly longer, in a collaboration between Pitruzzello, Dubrule, and Cabela’s. Dubrule, the captain of Blackhawk II out of Niantic, had the shark mounted in 1983 and displayed it for many years on the touring circuit. However, the shark became in bad repair and was sitting in his garage for the last six years, when it was recently restored. (Richard Messina / Hartford Courant / May 5, 2011)
