The world’s oceans represent 80% of the world’s surface, the innumerable species that dwell therein represent a critical part of the world’s eco system. At the top of the chain that protects and insures the continued vitality of this system is the shark.

This species, which has roamed the oceans for millions of years, is in mortal danger. Commercial long line fishing and netting to satisfy the demand for the shark’s fin is decimating the population at a rate of seventy to ninety million sharks a year; this is unsustainable, unacceptable and unconscionable .
